We are expecting puppies end of September/ beginning of October from Giorgia di Chiesanova and Little White Wonder Cirino Oidi. Giorgia is a very nice Italian lady, Italian Ch and her parents are EU Champion Siria Di Chiesanova and EU, World CH and Multi Ch TamTam dell’Antica Storia. Little White Wonder Cirino Oidi (Macho) is our own little perfect fellow. He is Dutch and International Ch. He got 2nd in class at WDS 2009 and reserve best male at Crufts 2010. His parents are our own dogs Dutch CH Oidipus Aphaia and Dutch CH Zoe Gina van de Flevomare. It is a very interesting combination leading back to some dogs that have been very important in the bolognese breeding in the past.

Claire took our two little babies to Liege, International, in Belgium and they did great. Fiocco getting “very promissing” and best male baby and Lili “very promissing” best female baby, best baby in breed and Reserve Best Baby in SHOW! This is really spectacular for the bolognese! I am very proud of the two little ones and thank you Claire for showing them so nice!

Ginger is growing BIG! This time I have not been to the vet for an ultrasound…superstition…haha I really do not want only boys again! So who knows, I just waited very patiently until I would see her grow (or not) BUT YES, she is getting bigger and bigger. YIPPIE! Am very excited about this litter and hope for very nice babies from Ginger again. The poor little girl, it is so hot outside sometimes…

Today Ginger, Julieta and Giorgia have been to the eye specialist for their annual test. All was perfect, no hereditary defects were found!

We think it is very important to have eye tests on a yearly base and breed with only healthy dogs. There are some PRA issues in the breed but since the gen for PRA in bolognese has not been found yet, all we can do is test our breeding stock until 8 years of age. It would be so much easier if the gen was found as that would mean the only thing we would have to do is a bloodtest, on young puppies and select from there. A dog can be a free, carrier or affected. It is difficult to determine which dog is a carrier,  we can now only know for sure when the dog has an affected child. And then…carriers can be bred to free dogs and never get affected dogs. So we can not even rule out carriers yet because we do not know anything about the other parents. Very complicated! So far only thing we can do is test and if the dogs turns out to be affected, immediately take it out of the breeding program.

If you are going to breed, do so responsibly, or don’t breed at all
